The Montagu Pit Disaster occurred on March 30th 1925.The colliery was situated in Scotswood, Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom and resulted in the loss of 38 lives. In this DVD we look at the accident in detail and with archive footage we witness the pain people felt at the pithead waiting for news of loved ones. We also have the funeral of the first 23 miners on May 24th 1925, which was three miles long and packed with mourners, who sadly lost their lives on that tragic day. This DVD recalls that tragic day in detail and a day that will never be forgotten, not only by those who lost family members in the tragedy, but by the people of Scotswood but mining communities all over the country.
